Your information & rights

Terms of Use

Clear information about using our website, enquiring about care and the rights that remain yours.

Last updated:

This website is operated by The Extra Mile, Nursing and Palliative Care Services Pty Ltd, trading as The Extra Mile Nursing and Palliative Care, based in Hervey Bay, QLD. Our service supports people and families across Hervey Bay, Fraser Coast and Wide Bay.

About these terms

These terms apply to your use of extramilecare.com.au. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy. They explain the purpose of this website and the conditions on which its content is made available.

They are website terms, not an agreement for nursing or palliative care. Any care we agree to provide is subject to an individual assessment, informed consent and separately agreed service arrangements. Browsing this website does not commit you to a service or payment.

Health information and emergencies

This website provides general information about our business and services. It does not provide an individual diagnosis, treatment recommendation or substitute for advice from a qualified health professional who understands your circumstances.

Do not delay seeking medical advice or change medicines, treatment or a care plan because of information on this website. Discuss individual care decisions with your treating practitioner or healthcare team.

In a medical emergency, call Triple Zero (000). This website and our enquiry channels are not emergency services and are not continuously monitored. If you have an agreed care plan, use its nominated contacts for non-emergency care concerns.

Enquiries and care arrangements

A phone call, email or referral is an enquiry, not confirmation that care has been accepted or that a visit is booked. We will discuss your needs, location, clinical suitability and availability before confirming whether we can assist.

The scope of care, fees, payment arrangements, visit times and any cancellation conditions must be discussed and agreed separately before services commence. These website terms do not impose cancellation fees, minimum bookings or other charges.

Descriptions of services do not guarantee availability, a particular clinical outcome or suitability for every person. References to working with other providers do not imply a formal affiliation, government approval or eligibility for funding. Any funding or rebate arrangements must be confirmed separately; please do not assume that a service is covered.

Please provide accurate information relevant to your enquiry and let us know if circumstances change. When contacting us for someone else, ensure you have their consent or other lawful authority to share their personal information.

Privacy and communication

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal and health information, including access, correction and complaints.

Please avoid sending detailed health records, identity documents or sensitive photographs in an initial email. Call Stephanie to discuss an appropriate way to share them. Email and internet communications may be delayed, misdirected or intercepted, so please call if an expected response has not arrived.

Using our website and content

You may browse, share links to, and print or save information from this website for personal use or to help a family member or client consider care options. Please keep any attribution and notices intact and do not present altered material as our advice.

Unless otherwise indicated, website content and branding belong to us or are used with permission or under licence. Other than uses permitted by law or above, please obtain permission before reproducing material commercially or using our logo. Third-party material remains subject to its owner's rights.

Do not misuse the website, attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious software, disrupt its operation, impersonate another person or use its content in a misleading or unlawful way.

Some images are illustrative stock or AI-generated images. They should not be taken as photographs of our clients or as evidence of a particular care outcome.

Your consumer rights

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law or another law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Where applicable, services must be provided with due care and skill, be fit for a purpose made known to and reasonably relied upon with the provider, and be supplied within a reasonable time if no time is agreed. Remedies depend on the circumstances and the law.

These terms do not waive liability for a failure to meet a non-excludable obligation, or require you to indemnify us for our conduct. The general-information statements above do not reduce our professional responsibilities when we provide care.

You can read more about consumer rights and guarantees from the ACCC.

Queensland law and updates

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland and applicable Commonwealth laws of Australia. Queensland courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction, without limiting any right you have to seek assistance from a regulator, tribunal or another competent court.

We may update these website terms by publishing a revised version with a new date. Changes apply to future website use and do not retrospectively alter an existing care agreement or rights that have already arisen. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
